Scorpion?

There was a man who saw a scorpion floundering around in the water. He decided to save it by stretching out his finger, but the scorpion stung him. The man still tried to get the scorpion out of the water, but the scorpion stung him again. Another man nearby told him to stop saving the scorpion that kept stinging him.

But the man said: "It is the nature of the scorpion to sting. It is my nature to love. Why should I give up my nature to love just because it is the nature of the scorpion to sting?"

Don't give up loving people... Don't give up being good... Even if the people around you hurt and sting, love them.

There was once a snake, who was lethal, poisonous and much feared by the whole neighbourhood. He would sting and strike back and unsuspecting victims and everybody wished him dead.

One day, a sage wandered by and asked him how his life was and the snake said - Oh, I dont much like it, I am hated by everybody and nobody wants to near me and be with me.

The sage asked him why and found out that it was because the snake was not a particularly pleasant creature to have around, for he had caused several deaths and everybody planned to finish him off.

Why do you sting then? asked the sage, and for the first time, the snake realised he could be something different, that biting people wasnt a rule and he could do without it. He thanked the sage for his question and decided never to bite people again.

A few months passed by and the sage happened to pass by again and met the snake. This time, we saw the snake bleeding, injured and about to die. He nursed the snake back to health and when he was in a position to speak again, asked him what had happened. The snake said - I stopepd biting people and finding that I was no longer attacking, a lot of people decided to take revenge and threw stones at me and stuck sticks and fire down my home, in an attempt to burn me alive. So you see what came of not attacking? I almost got killed.

The sage laughed. He said - I asked you to not bite. Did I ever ask you to not hiss? That would have kept you from biting and them from attacking you. There always is a middle path and it takes a little common sense to see this.
